A bit back, I had mentioned the great crisis taking place in Somerville regarding the possibility that Skippy, a rare mummified squirrel's natural habitat would be torn down in favor of attracting and housing living squirrels.
Congress held an emergency session and voted unanimously to declare Skippy's home a new national park. President Obama waited patiently just outside the Congressional hearing and immediately signed the bill into law. Thus, today, it was possible to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Mummified Squirrel National Park and Wildlife Reserve, the nation's smallest national park. Thank you all for your help in saving Skippy and his home!
